Queer Wishes Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Queer Wishes: A Night of Celebration, Community, and Queer Joy

Riverside, CA —Artist Perry Picasshoe, in collaboration with TruEvolution and The Cheech Museum, presents Queer Wishes, an exclusive gathering for queer individuals on Saturday, March 29, from 6 to 9 PM at TruEvolution in downtown Riverside. This event, will feature an unveiling of Perry’s latest artwork: a garment crafted from bath towels, symbolizing the often-hidden sanctuaries Queer individuals create for themselves within restrictive environments.

Attendees will be invited to write their personal wishes on ribbons and tying them around the dress, mirroring the tradition of a wishing tree, and transforming it into a living archive of Queer hopes and resilience. The garment, along with the collected wishes, will then move to The Cheech Museum, where it will be showcased as part of “Hecho en Park Avenue”, an exhibition highlighting personal narratives from Riverside’s Eastside community

“Queer Wishes is about finding joy, even in small, overlooked spaces,” says Picasshoe. “It’s a reflection on growing up in conservative, Catholic, Mexican households, navigating self-expression within tight limitations, and ultimately creating space for oneself and the community.” In today’s political climate, where LGBTQ+ rights continue to be challenged, the event offers a much-needed moment of sanctuary and celebration.

The evening will feature a live DJ’s, drag performances, and poetry readings, promising a campy, joyful, and unforgettable experience.

This event is strictly for queer individuals. It is a space for authentic self-expression, free from outside scrutiny, where attendees can fully embrace and celebrate their identities.
